This fact is going to throw a number of people simply because there has never been a female president of the United States. However, that is not to say that there has never been an American woman that has then gone on to become president.
Take the example of Janet Jagen. She was born in Chicago, so is therefore American but she later moved to Guyana. When she was there, she married the man that would go on to become the leader of Guyana by the name of Cheddi Jagen. Later, she herself would take over the role as leader of the country after she won an election.
As an aside, the very first leader of Guyana was somebody who was Chinese, who was also the very first Asian to lead a non-Asian country.
