The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are regarded as being one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, but even though so many people have heard of them, a smaller percentage are actually aware of who was responsible for their creation.
The answer lies in the history of a Neo-Babylonian King who went by the name of Nebuchadnezzar II. He was based in what is now known as the Iraqi region of Babil, and that name alone gives you a few hints as to where the name ‘Babylon’ actually comes from as well.
Even though evidence for it is not as apparent as some of the other ancient wonders, it is still widely believed that they did indeed exist, as it was also common for an ancient King to want to do something that would ultimately make them memorable for eternity. Unfortunately for this King, it seems that even though his creation has effectively stood the test of time, people are rather quick at forgetting his own name, making everything pretty pointless for him.
