Prisoners’ last meals have become a topic of conversation and public interest, to the point where many states and prisons have websites or webpages dedicated to listing the contents of each condemned prisoner’s last meal. In 1995, Thomas Grasso made it his final mission to share his final meal mishap with the world.
Grasso, a convicted murderer, was on death row awaiting his execution. For his last meal, he requested steamed mussels, a double cheeseburger from Burger King, half of a pumpkin pie, a strawberry milkshake, and Spaghetti-O’s. Other variations say that he also requested a second strawberry milkshake, a lemon cut into wedges, and steamed clams.
Grasso’s focus was on one single part of his meal. His final statement to the media was, “I did not get my Spaghetti-O’s. I got spaghetti. I want the press to know this.” Talk about a rough ending.
