Who doesn’t love a nice tropical vacation?! Pitcairn is an island in the Pacific with a land area of about 2 square miles, and it’s one of the fourteen British territories that remain overseas. Over time, the population has dwindled down to a mere 50 inhabitants. That’s right, there are less than 50 people who live on the entire island.
As a way to try to attract new inhabitants, the government of Pitcairn has been offering a free plot of land to each person who chooses to move to the island. So far, a mere one person has taken them up on the offer. There’s a catch, though. The island isn’t exactly modernized. While they finally got electricity and internet on Pitcairn, there is just one store on the island, and it is open only three times a week. Shipments of food from New Zealand come in three times a year. If you’re looking for warm weather, clear, blue water, and a slower-paced life, you could be the next resident of Pitcairn Island.
