Airplane food has garnered a reputation for being less than stellar, especially in economy class, but that’s just a part of flying, right? Not if you’re the pilot. Pilots often get a business or first-class meal, or sometimes an entirely different menu made specifically for the pilots. Those soggy green beans you’re forced to suffer through? The chicken that doesn’t quite look like chicken? Don’t expect your pilot to be eating those anytime soon.
In another interesting twist, there are several airlines that require the pilot and co-pilot to eat different meals. The reasoning is simple. If, for whatever reason, a meal causes food poisoning, one of the pilots will still be well enough to fly the plane.
