When it comes to various computer related devices, then Hewlett-Packard has to be one of the most famous company names out there. However, even though you may have already guessed most of how it got its name, there is one aspect that you may have overlooked or been unaware of, until now.
The name is clearly derived from the two guys that founded the company, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard and they opted for using their surnames in order to create the overall name for the company.
But then, it gets you thinking as to how they decided on whose name would go first and there are probably a number of reasons or options that come into your mind as to how this would all be resolved. Maybe one did most of the work? Perhaps one was more the money person so it was decided that they would go first?
Well, it turns out that they were equal in every possible standing, so the reason why it is called Hewlett-Packard and not Packard-Hewlett comes down to a simple coin toss. They had two options and came to the conclusion that the best course of action to take when deciding what to do was just to flip a coin and leave it all up to chance.
You have to admit that it would now feel uncomfortable calling it anything else.
