Here’s the Point

Growing up, many of us were taught that it’s rude to point at someone. But why? It turns out, if you look back to hundreds of years ago, pointing was used as a way of casting a spell on someone or signal an evil eye. A quote from the Moor of Venice goes, “A fixed figure for the time of scorn, to point her slow unmoving at her.”
