You would like to think that any nuclear missiles would be very well looked after since it is clearly going to be dangerous if it gets into the wrong hands. Well, that sounds as if it should be easy, but there is a period in history where it appears to have been harder than you would like to think.
The period in time is between 1950 and 1968 and we are looking at the United States military. It is stated that they somehow managed to lose a total of 8 nuclear missiles during that time, a fact that is absolutely staggering when you think about what is involved.
The military state that none of the missiles had an actual active warhead, but then you could argue that they would hardly turn around and say that it was all primed and ready for action before they lost it. Also, they have a few areas where they believe that the missiles were lost with it ranging from the Mediterranean, to somewhere in the Pacific and even in North Carolina.
So, if you thought that these missiles were completely safe, then perhaps it is time for you to change your opinion on things.
