When two men from Kiribati in the Pacific decided to go on a perfectly normal boat trip, they would have no idea that they would eventually solve a mystery that had stretched back some 50 years.
The two men were sailing between two islands when their GPS lost power and they basically drifted around lost at sea for a total of 33 days. Eventually, they washed up on shore at the Marshall Islands, and that was when things took a surprising twist.
It turned out that for one of the two men they had washed up on the exact same island as their uncle had 50 years ago. However, they had never heard from the uncle since he had gone out to sea and he had been presumed to be dead and people had moved on. You can imagine his surprise when he discovered that not only had his uncle not died at sea, but after being washed up he then went on to build a family and live on the islands quite happily.
They didn’t find their uncle as he had died some years earlier, but they did find people that were related to them and part of their family. They were then able to tell the story of what happened to the uncle all of those years ago.
