Doc Emrick isn’t as well-known as some of the other announcers in hockey, but he is known for his colorful descriptions and unique play-by-plays that set him apart from the other announcers. For the 2014 Olympics USA vs. Canada game, a fan counted how many words Emrick used to describe the movement of the puck, and the final count was startling: 153!

Some of the verbs he used include curled, skipped, nubbed, finessed, dished, swatted, threaded, whistled, squibbed, struck, muscled, collared, angles, blasted, backchecked, and outletted. He’d make a great human thesaurus, huh?!
