Before Ted Kaczynski made headlines as the Unabomber, a domestic terrorist who sent mail bombs, he attended Harvard University. Unfortunately, someone in the Harvard Alumni Association didn’t get the memo that Kaczynski is a serial killer serving life in prison and probably shouldn’t be noted as a famous alum.
The class of 1962 celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2012 with a publication updating everyone on each other’s life. Ted Kaczynski sent in a nine-line entry, with his awards section reading, “Eight life sentences, issued by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, 1998.” He also listed his 664-page book, “Technological Slavery”, which includes his famous “Unabomber Manifesto”, as a publication of his.
For his address, Kaczynski wrote, “No. 04475-046, US Penitentiary – Max, P.O. Box 8500, Florence, CO 8126-8500.” A spokesperson for the alumni association confirmed that it was, in fact, Kaczynski who submitted the entry, as all submissions by alumni are included in the report.
