The idea of an albino animal is well known, especially when it involves an animal that is just not meant to be white in any way at all. However, even though an albino is something that we have all heard of, few people are aware that there is an opposite to it when it comes to the animal kingdom.
What we are talking about is that there are animals that end up being completely black when that should not be the case. It, too, is caused by a genetic malfunction, and it is certainly much rarer than the albino type that you just see appearing every now and again in nature. Also, it is known as a melanistic animal, so if you spot something that is black in color and you are confused about it, then that may very well be the reason why.
