When it comes to trying to tackle speeding, then there are a whole host of ways that you can try to be successful. However, a town in Scotland certainly wanted to try something that was completely different from the norm, and the surprising thing was that it was actually a success.
The village of Arnprior only has a population of 200 and there is one main road that goes through the middle of the village that is also decidedly straight. So, what did they do in order to stop people from just driving as fast as they can along the street?
Well, they came up with the idea of painting the white line that goes along the middle of the road, but not in the normal way. In fact, they made sure that the white line wasn’t straight, as this had the impact of confusing drivers and making them think that the road was no longer straight.
The result was that drivers slowed down due to the optical illusion of the road moving all over the place. It worked and perhaps that is something that could be done in other areas to help with speeding motorists?
