We are all very familiar with the concept of the movie trailer, but are you aware as to why it is referred to as a trailer as opposed to any other term?
In order to answer this, we have to go back in time to the earlier days of people going to the cinema because the way in which they ordered things was different than what we experience today. Previously, trailers were clips of other movies that people could see that would be played at the end of the main feature. This is clearly the opposite to what we now experience as we are shown them before the main movie even begins but then it makes sense why they were called trailers when you hear about the order.
So, even though we have moved things around, people were so used to them being known by this name that it did end up sticking. Could you ever imagine referring to it by anything else anyway?
