We all produce saliva without any exceptions, but how much of it do you think you are going to produce throughout your life? Considering the apparently small amounts of the stuff at any given time, you would be forgiven for thinking that it would not add up to much, but you would be wrong.
Instead, the average person is going to create enough saliva to fill two Olympic sized swimming pools. Not one, which would be impressive in its own right, but two of them and no matter the way in which you look at it, that is a lot of salivae.
Of course it all serves a purpose, so it’s not as if we are producing it just to give that part of our body something to do. However, you would like to think that our body knows exactly what it is doing with the need to produce so much of it throughout your life.
